Overview

As an E&I Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering large-scale electrical and instrumentation projects within the mining and resources sector. From project inception to completion, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of multiple work packages. Working closely with project managers, site teams and external stakeholders, you will drive productivity, maintain quality standards and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding projects while gaining valuable experience within a reputable EPC. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee multiple E&I project packages within a major mining or resources project
  • Provide technical oversight on electrical and instrumentation design, installation, and commissioning
  • Develop and review detailed electrical work packs, schematics, single-line diagrams, and layouts
  • Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and cable routing design
  • Ensure all designs and installations meet AS/NZS standards, statutory regulations, and client specifications
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project or Primavera 6
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support during construction and commissioning
  • Conduct technical reviews of vendor documentation, including FATs and SATs
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to resolve engineering challenges
  • Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, construction teams, and external stakeholders
  • Manage and report on project progress, including budgeting and cost control
  • Ensure site documentation is accurately maintained, including redline drawings and as-built records

About You:

  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering on large-scale mining, oil & gas, or industrial projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of power distribution systems, motor control centres (MCCs), PLCs, and SCADA systems
  • Experience with hazardous area classifications and design compliance
  • Familiarity with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules), AS/NZS 60079 (Hazardous Areas), and other relevant standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software like Microsoft Project or Primavera 6
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced environments and manage multiple project packages
